The issue of autonomous power supply today is extremely important for Russia. A centralized energy system based on large hydroelectric power plants with high turbine power has certain advantages, but their use is not possible everywhere. At most of these stations, the resource of equipment has long been exhausted, which leads to a decrease in reliability, as well as the quality of the generated energy. Centralized energy tariffs are getting higher and resources are dwindling. A steam turbine of low power is one of the most economically viable solutions to this situation. A distributed system for supplying heat and electricity, consisting of a large number of small sources, has many undeniable advantages. The consumer himself chooses the type of fuel, the most economical and efficient for the given conditions. It is possible to use local renewable resources - after all, a low-power steam turbine can operate on a wide variety of fuels. Thus, the consumer receives fuel at cost, which in any case is several times lower than energy tariffs. Also, such a steam turbine has an increased degree of reliability. It is also possible to resell electricity received from an autonomous source to neighbors. Peak loads in such cases are also reduced, this has a positive effect on the overall service life. Compared to diesel power plants, a small power steam turbine is much more economical and environmentally friendly.

Since the 90s, the widespread use of gas turbines began, but it has a large number of disadvantages. Such turbines require the construction of an additional station for fuel preparation, it has a high noise level, which leads to the need to place it in a separate building. Most of the turbines that use natural gas as an energy source are converted from aircraft engines, which significantly reduces their service life, the cost of installation and repair is also very high, and it requires special equipment. The most expensive elements often wear out - the turbine blades. Thus, a small steam turbine is a much smarter and more economical option.
