Danfoss has launched an app that lets you control room thermostats using your mobile phone. Danfoss is taking it one step further to become the premier supplier of thermostats for future smart homes. A new app from a Danish industrial group gives homeowners the ability to quickly and easily control the heating of their home.
Today the sale of room thermostats is carried out all over the world. Customers adjust and program the thermostat using the Danfoss Link screen, but the control can now be moved to a mobile phone that acts as a remote control.
Glenn Christiansen, Danfoss Senior Director of Thermostat Business, says: “We want to improve the customer experience and improve the control of thermostats. So we have spent the last few years developing the app and testing it in Denmark and some European countries. "Users have only left positive feedback.
Meanwhile, traditional mechanical thermostats have been installed since 1970. In Denmark, there are somewhere between 10 and 15 million mechanical thermostats. At the European level, their number reaches half a billion. “You can save energy by replacing older models with electronic thermostats,” says Glenn Christiansen, who is also confident that customers who already have Danfoss electronic thermostats can upgrade their thermostats for a relatively modest cost.
The Danfoss Link operating system and the new Danfoss app will expand capabilities to include various functions in the home. “But I don't see Danfoss as a common provider of smart home solutions for the future. We know what we have experience in, namely in the regulation of heat from radiators and underfloor heating. So we focus on this. But there are also a number of opportunities for developing new solutions and capabilities, ”said Glenn Christiansen. At the same time, Danfoss is open to integrating its electronic thermostats into other complete smart home solutions.
