Toppers are thin orthopedic products that are placed on top of regular mattresses or on folding furniture. The mattress topper is another version of the name of these products, albeit not entirely correct. Mattress covers are usually called covers that cover mattresses. The topper, in turn, is able to act as an independent sleeping place.
Mattress hardness toppers are used for various purposes:
- to soften and smooth the surface of a regular mattress;
- in order to restore its orthopedic qualities;
- to increase the comfort level while sleeping on the fold-out furniture.
Soft fillings and toppers: classification
Soft toppers are made from 100% latex, polyurethane foam, memorix foam or mixed raw materials (strutofiber, ergolatex). Each of these components is distinguished by its firmness and elasticity, thanks to which the body of the resting person is supported during sleep in an optimal position.
The level of softness for each of these materials is different, therefore, the mattress should be selected individually. Consider your own wishes regarding the softness of the bed:
- polyurethane foam - an improved form of foam rubber, is rightfully considered the softest filling material for orthopedic products. This material is known for its poor ability to evaporate moisture. It also does not differ in durability - it is characterized by fast caking, loss of elasticity. The demand for polyurethane foam toppers is associated with their affordable price;
- strutofiber is a material designed to adjust the degree of mattress rigidity. Consists of polyester fibers, wool, cotton, linen (does not contain coconut coir). Thanks to the polyester components, strutofiber boasts elasticity, and natural components provide it with excellent thermoregulation and moisture exchange;
- memory form foam is a filling material characterized by medium softness and a viscoelastic structure. It quickly adjusts to the curves of the resting body, providing a comfortable healthy sleep. The disadvantage of the material is rapid heating due to insufficient heat transfer. Also, the disadvantages include the high price;
- latex is an environmentally friendly material that has both natural and artificial origin. Differs in good moisture exchange, decent rates of temperature exchange, pronounced orthopedic effect, durability and resistance to wear. Natural latex has more pronounced properties compared to synthetic. However, for naturalness you will have to significantly overpay.
For a sleeping place to be soft, it is not necessary
