According to the official announcement, the European Commission has initiated a review of safeguards for the import of certain steel products covering 26 product categories. The EC will also consider whether any changes to US Article 232 would have a significant impact on steel trade flows.
The European Commission will complete a review investigation of the safeguard by June 30, 2022, when the current quotas expire.
This review of safeguards started earlier than originally planned in February or March 2022.
