Hot-deformed seamless steel pipes are considered one of the most durable rolled products, capable of withstanding extreme pressure and really high mechanical loads. This is explained by the absence of a seam on the surface of the base, which in other pipe products is considered the most vulnerable point. It is a mistake to assume that the cost of a seamless pipe is simply the price of the metal. In fact, pricing is based on several factors. And each of them plays their role. First of all, the price of pipes will depend on their:
- Chemical composition. Regular carbon steel, such as grade 20, is considered the most budget-friendly. If you choose alloy steel, the cost of rolled steel will increase in proportion to the cost of additives, which include: chromium, nickel, manganese.
- Wall thicknesses. Despite the fact that in thin-walled pipes there is less metal layer and, accordingly, requires a smaller volume of raw materials for production, such pipes are manufactured in a truly jewelry way with maximum precision. Therefore, they can often cost more than thick-walled ones with the same diameter.
The high cost of rolled metal is due to the complexity of its production. Unlike welded pipes, which are made from steel sheets by welding, seamless pipes are made from a single cylindrical billet. Firmware requires additional costs and more expensive equipment, which affects the cost of rental.
