Turkish integrated producer of long products Kardemir Karabuk Demir Çelik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.
S. (Kardemir) announced the commissioning of continuous casting machine No. 2 on April 3, 2026, to commemorate the company's 89th anniversary.
The investment follows the completion of key projects, including a second vacuum degassing unit and the installation of a calibration unit.
Strategic Focus on value-added production
New five-strand continuous casting line The casting machine, supplied by Germany's SMS Group, has an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons, as previously reported by SteelOrbis. The equipment is designed to production of three sizes of square blanks, one size of bloom and one size of beam section.
The company believes that the investment is in line with its strategy to increase the share of high value-added products in its output structure. Kardemir also plans a total production of liquid steel of 3 million tons. The new foundry, together with supporting investments, is expected to significantly improve product quality and operational efficiency
