Turkish manufacturer of integrated long steel Kardemir Karabük Demir Çelik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.
Ş. (Kardemir) has awarded UK plant manufacturer Danieli Technologies a contract to upgrade its smelter automation environment.
The project includes upgrading the automation systems for three converters, four ladle furnaces and one vacuum degasser. Each converter is designed for 120-ton heating. According to Primetals, the new Level 2 process optimization system integrates all plants into a single digital architecture, unifying metallurgical, operational and planning data in one environment.
The equipment manufacturer said this unified "steelmaking framework" will provide operators and metallurgists with a common interface and standardized procedures, improving data consistency, process execution and transparency between shifts and production departments.
With this modernization project, Kardemir aims to reduce smelter emissions, reduce energy consumption in secondary metallurgy, increase yields and improve overall productivity. Commenting on the project, Sefa Cetinkaya, operational technology manager at Kardemir, said the manufacturer expects significant improvements in steelmaking productivity through the unified Level 2 environment.
“We are pleased to begin this important Level 2 project with Primetals as part of the digital transformation of our steel plant. These advanced automation solutions will improve your data
