The Italian Danieli Technologies plant has announced the conclusion of a contract with the Egyptian steel company Ezz Flat Steelfor for the complete modernization of the Quality Strip Production (QSP®) foundry and rolling complexat the Ain Sokhna factory in Egypt. The complex was originally supplied and commissioned by Danieli in 2003.
A key part of the project will be the installation of a new vacuum oxygen degassing unit. This plant will expand the capabilities of the existing smelter and support the production of more advanced steel grades.
The upgraded QSP® complex will increase productivity from the initial level of 1.175 million tons to 1.5 million tons. The upgrade will also allow Ezz Flat Steel to produce a wider range of high-value-added steel products. The existing plant already represents an important landmark for the steel industry, as it was the world's first QSP line certified for the production of API X70 linear tubular steel.
