Primetals сообщает о запуске самого мощного в Китае завода Arvedi ESP в Zhongshou Special Steel

UK-based steel mill equipment manufacturer Primetals Technologies has announced the successful production of the first steel coil at its new Arvedi ESP plant supplied by the company to Chinese steelmaker Zhongshou Special Steel in Luanzhou, Hebei Province, China.

The first steel coil was produced on May 13, just five days after the first casting, according to Primetals. The equipment manufacturer stated that the plant had already started operating continuously on May 16. Primetals noted that the new plant is the 11th Arvedi ESP plant to come online worldwide. Equipped with a 130mm thick gating furnace, four roughing mills and five finishing mills, the plant is the most powerful and productive Arvedi ESP line installed to date in China, according to the manufacturer.

The technology supplier also said the plant is designed to produce a wide range of steel grades, from low carbon to high-strength low-alloy steels.

Zhongshou is focused on manufacturing low carbon steel

Zhongshou Special Steel, plant operator and Primetals customer, is making a strategic transition from the traditional hot strip production method of blast furnace and LD converter (BOF). According to Primetals, Zhongshou Group is instead moving to an electric arc furnace-based smelter combined with continuous casting and rolling technologies.
