In April this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 1,449,026 metric tons, up 84.5% year-on-year and 46.5% year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports totaled $149.97 million, an increase of 83.3% month-on-month and 48.2% year-on-year.
Between January and April, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 4.13 million tons, an increase of 33.9 percent, while the value of these imports increased 32.2 percent to $ 436.02 million, year on year.

During the period, Turkey's largest source of iron ore imports was Brazil with 2.66 million tons, up 21.3% from the previous year. Brazil is followed by Norway with 664,233 metric tons and Russia with 603,374 metric tons.
Turkey's iron ore import structure between January and April shifted from the broader, diversified supplier base of last year to a more concentrated structure led by a few major sources. Brazil maintained its leading position, increasing volumes by 21.3 percent year-on-year to 2.66 million tonnes and strengthening its weight in total imports. The absence of imports from Sweden, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, which were among the top suppliers during the same period last year, was notable, while Norway came in second this year with 664,233 tonnes. Imports from Russia also rose sharply by 273.1
