Coking coal imports to Turkey decreased by 1.1 percent in January-April 2026

In April of this year, imports of coking coal to Turkey totaled 364,674 metric tons, down 14.7 percent from March and 38.1 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports totaled $68.07 million, down 18.1% from the previous month and 34.0% year-on-year.

In the period from January to April, the import of coking coal to Turkey amounted to 1.48 million tons, which is 1.1% less, while the value of these imports increased by 5.3% to $289.27 million year-on-year.

Coking coal imports to Turkey - the last 12 months

During this period, the largest source of coking coal imports to Turkey was the United States with 856,494 tons, which is 63.5% more than last year. The United States is followed by Australia with 458,009 tons, which is 38.8% less than in the same period of the previous year, and Russia with 169,935 tons, which is 25.8% less than in the same period last year.
