According to media reports, new Indonesian slab manufacturer PT Permai Metal Indonesia has started commercial operations at its factory in Morali, Central Sulawesi, which has increased the supply of new slabs to the domestic market and reduced the country's dependence on imported steel semi-finished products.
The plant, located in the Qingshan Industrial Park, has an annual slab production capacity of 1.5 million tons and is supplied with liquid metal from a blast furnace with a volume of 1,216 cubic meters. The plant produces slabs with a width of 1,000 mm to 1,650 mm, mainly for use in the production of coils.
PT Permai Metal Indonesia is a joint venture between China's Guangxi Guixin Steel Group and Tsingshan Group, which further strengthens the latter's steel production presence in the Morali industrial cluster in Indonesia.
The company's product can be processed at the Guang Ching De Metal Rolling Hot Rolling Mill with a capacity of 4 million tons per year, located on the territory of the same industrial complex. Dexin Steel and Tsingshan Group are shareholders of Guang Ching De Metal Rolling.
