Exports of wire rod from Brazil reached 29.6 thousand tons in June against 15.2 thousand tons in May, according to the Secretariat of Foreign Trade SECEX of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
The increase is mainly due to a more than sevenfold increase in supplies to South America.
The destinations were the countries of South America (23.7 thousand tons at $577/t) and the USA (5900 tons at $704/t), FOB terms.
Exporters were Gerdau (22,300 t), ArcelorMittal (6,600 t) and traders (700 t)
While Brazil imported 10,500 t of wire rod in June, up from 1,000 t in May.
June imports came from Egypt (8,100 t at price 568 US dollars/ton) and China (2400 tons at a price of 467 US dollars/ton), as well as on FOB terms.
