The South African International Trade Commission has announced that it has initiated a protective investigation into imports of cold-rolled rolled products. The investigation period is from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2025.
The investigation was initiated on the basis of a petition from a local manufacturer, ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited, claiming that the product in question is being imported into the South African market in such increasing quantities in absolute terms and relative to South African production and in such conditions causes serious damage to the domestic industry. The manufacturer provided evidence indicating that it was experiencing serious damage during the investigation period, primarily in the form of lower sales, lower market share and lower profitability, which later led to losses.
The products in question fall under the codes 7209.15, 7209.16, 7209.17, 7209.18, 7209.25, 7209.26, 7209.27, 7209.90, 7211.23, 7211.29, 7211.90 and 7225.50.
