Indian BCCL turned red in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-2027

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), an operating subsidiary of state-owned Coal India Limited (CIL), reported a net loss of INR 680.90 million (USD 7.07 million) in the first quarter (April-June) of fiscal year 2026-27, compared with a net profit of 1,768.70 million Indian rupees (US$18.36 million) in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year, according to the company's report on Wednesday, July 22.BCCL, the largest coking coal mining company in the country, achieved total revenue of INR 35.87 billion (US$372.40 million) during the period, down 3.6 percent from last year.

The net loss was attributed to a 27.43 percent decrease in coal production to 6.56 million tons and a 14.3% drop in sales to 7.7 million tons.
