In June this year, Japan's crude steel production fell 2.1 percent from the previous month and increased 1.3 percent from June 2025 to 6.80 million tons, according to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, Japan's pig iron production was 4.90 million metric tons in the month, down by 2.8 percent from the previous month and an increase of 3.1 percent year-on-year.
In the first six months of this year, the country's steel production was 40.40 million metric tons, down 0.4 percent, while pig iron production was 29.16 million metric tons, also down 0.4 percent from the same period last year.
