The Japanese government has tentatively determined that imports of hot-dip galvanized steel strip and sheet from China and South Korea were sold at unfairly low prices and caused material damage to the domestic steel industry.
Accordingly, the preliminary anti-dumping duty was set at 63.95-68.67% for China and 32.49-42.69% for South Korea.
Japanese The Iron and Steel Federation said the investigation was being conducted independently in accordance with World Trade Organization rules and called on the government to immediately introduce interim measures and expedite a final solution to the problem of unfair imports.
The Federation added that Japan's steel industry will continue to monitor unfair trade practices across a wider range of steel products and will seek additional trade remedies if necessary.
