According to the Chinese Ministry of Finance, the volume of new bonds issued by local governments in China in June this year amounted to 612.8 billion yuan (90.3 billion US dollars), which is 53.3 percent of the total volume of bonds issued by local governments.
In the first six months, the total volume of new bonds issued by local governments in China amounted to 2.4475 trillion yuan (0.36 trillion US dollars). During this period, funds were allocated mainly to key sectors, including infrastructure development and public welfare.
