China's total shipbuilding output was 36.5 million deadweight tons (dwt) between January and June this year, up 51.2 percent year-on-year, according to the China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). During the period, China's new ship orders reached 121.06 million dwt, up 173.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, as of the end of June this year, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilders totaled 363.25 million dwt, up 54.9 percent year-on-year.
Chinese shipbuilders accounted for more than 68 percent of the world's new green ship orders between January and June this year, consolidating the country's global leadership position in green shipbuilding and making it a key arena for high-tech transformation industry.
