GravitHy promotes the Fos-sur-Mer low-carbon iron project with the submission of a permit
GravitHy, a French low-carbon iron producer, has announced that it has applied for a permit for its flagship project in Fos-sur-Mer, marking a key milestone in the development of its planned low-carbon iron production.

The company said the submission follows several years of engineering work, environmental research, stakeholder consultations, and project development.

Project to support decarbonization of the European steel industry

Founded in 2022, GravitHy aims to supply low-carbon iron produced using hydrogen and low-carbon electricity to support the decarbonization of the European steel industry. The company stated that the project was designed in accordance with high standards of safety, environmental performance and industrial efficiency.

GravitHy also highlighted the stakeholder engagement process that has been underway since 2023 under the leadership of the French National Commission for Public Debate. Public meetings, seminars, and consultations with local authorities, residents, associations, and other stakeholders led to several constructive changes aimed at improving the environmental integration of the project and addressing local issues.
