Average freight rates increased $3/t in June for Brazilian finished steel imports

Brazil's central foreign trade system Siscomex reported that average freight rates for imports of finished steel into the country were $63/metric ton (/mt) in June, up from $60/ton in May.

For HRC, it was $31/metric ton (/mt)  for Egypt, $116/mt for South Korea, $63/mt ton for China, $51/metric ton for Austria and $61/metric ton for Vietnam.

For CRC, it was $55/ton for South Korea, $45/ton for Taiwan, $63/ton for Vietnam, and $54/ton for China.

For coated flat products, it was $59/ton for China, US$59/ton for Vietnam, US$102/ton for South Korea, US$96/ton for Japan, US$65/ton for India, US$29/ton for Germany, US$50/ton for Peru and US$39/ton for Turkey.

For wire rod it was US$32/ton for Egypt, US$62/ton for Russia, US$66/ton for China.

For rebar, it was $32/t for Egypt, $76/t for Russia, $75/t from China and $141/t for South Korea.

For strip: $45/t from Spain, $39/t from Turkey, $168/t from China and $115/t from Taiwan.

For beams: US$97/ton for China, US$19/ton for Turkey and US$222/ton for UK.

For steel wire: US$89/ton for China, US$24/ton for Egypt, US$36/ton for Turkey, US$175/ton for South Korea and US$123/ton for Austria.

In June, Brazil's imports of finished steel products from China were equivalent in volume to 29 percent of the total, down from 41 percent in May, a decline reflecting the impact of anti-dumping duties on imports of CRC and coated flat products from China imposed by Brazilian authorities in February.
