British Steel appoints new board after UK government nationalization

British Steel appoints new board after UK government nationalization
British Steel has appointed a new board of directors following its nationalization by the UK government, bringing together experienced executives from the steel, manufacturing, engineering and government sectors to oversee the company's long-term development.

The newly appointed board of directors will work alongside British Steel's senior management team to support the company's operations and future strategy following the government takeover of the business.

Industry veterans join the board of directors

Among the appointments, John Bolton, Janet Ashdown, Andrew McNaughton CBE and David Bond CBE were appointed as non-executive directors.

The UK Government has appointed Eoin Parker and Lorna Gratton as shareholders' representatives and non-executive directors.

The Board of directors also includes members of the executive management of British Steel Kelly Jones, Allan Bell and Brian Lockhead.

These appointments follow the nationalization of British Steel by the UK government and are intended to provide strategic oversight as the company seeks to secure its long-term future and maintain domestic steelmaking facilities in the UK.

The British government officially transferred British Steel to state ownership after the Steel Industry (Nationalization) Act received royal assent, concluding that nationalization was in the public interest and necessary to protect the country's steelmaking facilities, as previously reported.
