Recently, the Chinese private steel company JinShengLan Metallurgical Technology Co., Ltd. of Guangdong Province has commenced Phase II, Zone III of its 8 million ton per annum high quality special steel project, which includes a 1780mm diameter continuous hot rolling line.
The 1780mm wide hot continuous rolling line currently under construction is a key modernization project for JinShengLan's 8 million ton per annum high quality special steel production project. The total investment for the project is 2.5 billion yuan (0.37 billion US dollars), and its completion and commissioning is scheduled for November 2027. Expansion and reconstruction will be carried out within the existing boundaries of the site. By optimizing and adjusting existing steelmaking and rolling lines, as well as outsourcing billets, the project aims to increase production capacity and product range without adding new steelmaking capacity.
Major construction activities include the addition of two 150-tonne VOD refining furnaces, two double-strand slab casters and one continuous hot rolling line 1780 mm in diameter (equipped with three heating furnaces), along with auxiliary utilities such as electricity, water supply and sewerage, as well as associated environmental protection facilities. Once completed, the plant's total annual capacity will reach 8 million tons of rolled steel.
