According to preliminary census data conducted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, imports of rolled steel products in the United States totaled 64,344 tons in May this year, up 78.6 percent from April and 35.7 percent less than in May 2025. In value terms, the volume of rolled steel imports in May amounted to 41.14 million US dollars, compared with 25.97 million US dollars in April and 70.70 million US dollars in May 2025.
In May, the United States imported the most sheets in rolls from South Korea - 33,063 tons, compared with the same period last year. 1,838 tons in April and 9,410 tons in May 2025. The other largest sources of rolled steel imports in May were Canada (11,172 thousand tons), Brazil (5,605 thousand tons), the Netherlands (3,573 thousand tons) and Vietnam (2,653 thousand tons).
