According to the American Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy (AISI), for the week ended August 1, 2026, domestic steel production in the United States amounted to 1.870 million tons, and the capacity utilization rate was 81.0%.
Production volume for the week ending August 1, 2026 increased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous week ending July 25, 2026, when production totaled 1,858 million tons net and the capacity utilization rate was 80.5 percent.
Production totaled 1.770 million net tons for the week ended August 1, 2025, with capacity utilization of 78.2 percent. The volume of production this week increased by 5.6% compared to the same period last year.
Adjusted production volume from the beginning of the year to August 1, 2026 amounted to 55.510 million tons net with a capacity utilization rate of 79.0%. This is an increase of 5.8% compared to 52.484 million tons of net in the same period last year, when the capacity utilization rate was 77.0 percent.
