Thyssenkrupp's net profit in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025-26 amounted to 34 million euros amid difficult market conditions

Thyssenkrupp's net profit in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025-26 amounted to 34 million euros amid difficult market conditions

Miguel Lopez, CEO of German steel producer thyssenkrupp, stated in the company's financial report for the third quarter ended June 30, 2025/26 fiscal year that this quarter was characterized by still difficult market conditions. Despite the challenging conditions, the company continued to improve its operating performance, helped by factors such as higher demand, while adjusted EBIT also improved year-on-year.

Meanwhile, thyssenkrupp said that its subsidiary thyssenkrupp Steel Europe continues its strategic restructuring, having reached a key milestone by selling its stake in Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann (HKM) to Salzgitter AG. In the last quarter, after the fire, the company successfully resumed trial operation of its new strip 4 hot rolling mill in Duisburg. The construction of a direct restoration plant has begun, and the construction of the Duisburg facility is also progressing according to plan. Regarding regulation, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe said that stricter EU safeguards on steel trade introduced in July supported efforts to create a fairer competitive environment for the European steel industry.

At the same time, the company, along with other leading European steel producers, is committed to reforming the EU's emissions trading system. According to thyssenkrupp Steel Europe, the proposed reform should provide a regulatory framework that guarantees the competitiveness of the European steel industry and supports decarbonization investments. Thyssenkrupp has confirmed that its strategic goal remains to spin off thyssenkrupp Steel Europe, with parent company thyssenkrupp AG potentially retaining a minority stake.

In the reporting quarter, the company's net profit amounted to 34 million euros, compared with a net loss of 255 million euros in the third quarter of the previous financial year, mainly due to a positive accounting effect of 131 million euros in Steel Europe in connection with the sale of a stake in Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann, sales revenue amounted to 8.79 billion euros. The euro has increased by eight percent year-on-year, driven by higher demand. In addition, thyssenkrupp's EBITDA in the third quarter amounted to 61 million euros, a decrease of 72.0% compared to the same period last year.

In the third quarter, the company's steel division's order volume was 2.28 billion euros, compared to 2.10 billion euros in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year, and sales increased 5.4% year-on-year to 2.59 billion euros.

By the end of the 2025-26 fiscal year, thyssenkrupp expects a net loss of 400 to 700 million euros, and adjusted EBIT of 600 million euros and 900 million euros
