According to preliminary data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel imports to the United States in June this year decreased by 3.8% compared to May and by 6.6% year-on-year to 1.90 million tons. In value terms, steel imports to the United States totaled $1.9 billion in June, compared with $2 billion in May and $2.1 billion in June 2025.

The main sources of steel imports to the United States in June are: South Korea (382,499 tons), Canada (266,718 tons), Brazil (221,881 tons) and Mexico (173,736 tons)..

By product group, imports of semi-finished products totaled 559,708 tons in June, compared with 547,431 tons in May and 523,303 tons in June 2025. Imports of flat rolled products totaled 525,116 tons in June, compared with 529,400 tons in May and 629,438 tons in June 2025. Imports of rolled products in June amounted to 370,427 tons, compared with 524,922 tons in May and 446,704 tons in June last year. Pipe pipe imports in June totaled 375,427 tons, compared with 305,676 tons in May and 364,864 tons in June 2025.

According to the American Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy, the share of imports in the U.S. steel market was estimated at 17 percent in June and 16 percent in the first six months of this year.
