HRC exports from Brazil decreased by 72% in July, while imports increased by 223% amid concerns of anti-dumping measures.

Brazil exported 5,900 metric tons of hot rolled coils (HRC) in July and imported 52,300 tons, up from 21,100 tons exported in June and 16,200 tons imported in June.

Analysts note that the sharp changes compared to the previous month reflect expectations that anti-dumping duties may be imposed on imports of HRC. It is reported that these measures have been postponed until October and may apply to goods manufactured outside of China.

All exports were sent to the country's South America. Deliveries were made by ArcelorMittal (2,900 tons at a price of $658 per ton), Gerdau (2,400 tons at $514 per ton) and Usiminas (600 tons at $759 per ton) on FOB terms.

Imports were carried out from Egypt (26,000 tons at a price of at a price of $575 per ton), Vietnam (14,400 tons at a price of $498 per ton), South Korea (8,200 tons at a price of $479 per ton) and China (3,700 tons at a price of $417 per ton), also on FOB terms.
