In mid-August (August 11-20) of this year, the average price of 20mm HRB 400E rebar in China increased by only 0.2 yuan per ton, almost unchanged at 3,062.9 yuan per ton ($452 per ton) compared with the price in early August (August 1-10), as reported by the National Bureau statistics of China.
During the specified period, average prices for wire rod, medium-grade sheet steel and hot-rolled roll (HRC) increased by 0.3%, 0.4% and 0.7%, respectively, while average prices for seamless steel pipes and corners decreased by 0.3 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively, compared to the beginning of August.
