According to SECEX, the secretariat for Foreign Trade of Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Brazil exported 2,700 tons of rolled steel to South American countries in August, well below the 21,100 tons in July, amid a lack of supplies to the United States and Europe.
ArcelorMittal shipped 1800 tons at a price of $543 per ton, Usiminas - 800 tons at a price of $876 per ton and CSN - 100 tons at a price of $794 per ton, all on FOB terms.
Brazil also imported 15,300 tons of rolled steel in August, up from 31,900 tons in July.
Imports were carried out from Austria (14,500 tons at a price of $870 per ton), China (500 tons at a price of $749 per ton) and other European countries (300 tons at a price of $848/ton), all on FOB terms.
Brazilian imports of thick-sheet steel, as a rule, include special grades of steel that are not produced on the domestic market, since their production on the required scale is economically impractical.
