Argentina produced 39,747 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in September, up from 39,381 units in August, according to the ADEFA Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Month-on-month, exports increased by 14.7% to 28,231 units, while domestic sales increased by 10.6% to 43,214 units.
Compared to September 2025, production decreased by 15.6 percent, exports decreased by 6.8%, and sales in the domestic market decreased by 20.4 percent.
In the first nine months of 2026, production decreased by 16.9% year-on-year to 314,975 units, exports increased by 1.6% to 203,072 units, and domestic sales decreased by 24.3% to 344,589 units.
ADEFA President Rodrigo Perez Graziano said that September showed concrete signs of recovery compared to the previous month, especially in sales to dealers and exports, although the cumulative figures for the year still reflect the difficult economic situation. landscape.
He added that the Argentine automotive industry is in a transition period, domestic demand is still below the level of 2025, and production is aimed at restoring volumes.
Perez Graziano called the export growth the most encouraging indicator: shipments reached their highest sales volume in a year - 71 percent of products were sold abroad. This, according to him, underlines the need to step up efforts to increase competitiveness and integrate the sector into global markets.
