The Yakovlevsky Mining and Processing Plant of the Russian steel company Severstal began the ore drying season in 2026/27, expecting to process about 1.8 million tons of ore by the spring of 2027, compared with 1.4 million tons in the previous season, representing an increase of about 29 percent.
Ore drying provides winter supplies to Череповец
From October to March, dry ore is shipped at the plant. Seasonality implies a reduction in the moisture content of the material from eight to three percent in order to prevent freezing during transportation by rail. After processing, the ore is sent to consumers, primarily to the Cherepovets Metallurgical Combine Severstal.
Maintenance and improvement work is underway оборудования
On the eve of the new season, the plant carried out more than 70 repairs at the drying complex and replaced more than 1,500 bags of filters used to remove dust, preparing the equipment for increased recycling.
The plant expects that a broader package of technical improvements will save about 1.1 million rubles on equipment maintenance and reduce the cost of finished products.
