Between January and September of this year, sales of heavy trucks (including chassis and tractors) in China totaled 926,000 units, up 13.0% from the same period last year, according to preliminary data released by cvworld.cn , a Chinese provider of information services for the automotive industry.
In September alone, China's heavy truck sales totaled 95,000 units, up 10.0% from the previous month, while declining 10.0% year-on-year.
In the second half of this year, the logistics and transport sectors faced even more pressure than in the first half of the year. Tariffs for road transport remain low, the profitability of fleet operators and carrier owners continues to decline, and demand for the purchase of vehicles has decreased. In addition, the high sales volume compared to the same period last year, driven by the China IV Truck trade-in program and a significant reduction in China IV truck inventories this year limited the stimulating effect of the trade-in policy. As a result, sales of heavy trucks decreased in September compared to the same period last year.
