Swedish company Stegra, which is building a green steel plant in Boden in northern Sweden, has selected three port and logistics partners in Germany, Belgium and the UK. They will help deliver its products to customers across Europe.
The partners are Haeger & Schmidt Logistics (HSL) in Duisburg, PSA Breakbulk in Antwerp and Thor Shortsea & Terminals (TST) in Hull. Stegra said the locations will provide access to major industrial regions and allow the company to use road, rail and water transport.
HSL will organize transport from the port of Antwerp to destinations inland in Europe, including through its own terminal in Duisburg. The company uses barges, trucks and rail, and also coordinates logistics chains.
PSA Breakbulk will operate the Antwerp terminal, which specializes in steel, metals and project cargo. It handles short-sea and deep-sea vessels and has equipment for handling steel coils. In Hull, TST will provide terminal and warehousing services, freight forwarding and transport across the UK.
Stegra’s head of logistics, Jenny Marin, said port and logistics partners are essential to connecting the company’s operations in northern Sweden with customers in Europe. She said the new agreements will broaden geographic coverage and add flexibility and reliability to deliveries.
Stegra is continuing to develop its European network. In Sweden, it has already signed agreements with the ports of Luleå, Skellefteå and Umeå. ESL Shipping and Royal Wagenborg have been selected for European maritime transport of raw materials and finished steel, while Pangaea Logistics Solutions will support iron ore deliveries. Clarksons is acting as a strategic shipping and logistics adviser.
