Australia’s Trade Remedies Commission has begun an accelerated review of anti-dumping and countervailing duties on aluminum-zinc coated steel from China. The review concerns Chinese producer Shandong Shinmade Material Tech Co., Ltd.; the existing measures are due to expire on August 5, 2028.
The review follows an application filed by the company on September 18, 2026, and covers the period from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. The commission will decide whether to leave the duty notices unchanged or amend them to reflect the producer’s circumstances.
Shandong Shinmade says the current duties do not reflect its domestic sales and production costs because it did not take part in the original investigation. The company also said it had not exported the products to Australia and therefore lacked information to estimate current export prices.
Published duty rates for some Chinese exporters range from 21.6% to 33%. Other suppliers face anti-dumping measures based on a floor price, as well as countervailing duties of 0.4% to 1.2%.
The review covers flat-rolled iron or non-alloy steel products at least 600 mm wide and coated with aluminum-zinc alloys, including products with a resin layer. The scope includes products with different surface treatments, such as passivated, resin-coated, oiled and skin-passed steel.
