China continues to be the world's largest steel producer for a year, followed by Japan and India in second and third places. Global production totaled 1.604 billion tonnes throughout 2016, an increase of 0.7% over the previous year.
The World Steel Association (Worldsteel) has released a list of the best steel producing countries in 2016.
China's steel output increased 1.2% to 808.40 million tonnes in 2016. In second place was Japan with a production of 104.8 million tons. The country's output was down 0.3% over the previous year. India was the third largest steel producer during 2016. The country's output increased by 7.4% to 95.6 million tons in 2016.
