In June 2018, the mining and metallurgical industry of Ukraine smelted 1.63 million tons of pig iron and 1.67 million tons of steel. Pig iron production is 3% higher compared to May 2018, steel output was 2% lower. The output of rolled products decreased by 2% to 1.52 million tonnes.
In the first half of 2018, 10.15 million tons of pig iron were produced, which is 8% higher compared to the same period in 2017.
Despite the loss of some capacity in the uncontrolled territory, metallurgical enterprises located in the controlled territory, in the first half of 2018, managed to increase the production of pig iron, steel and rolled products to levels exceeding the indicators for the same period of the previous year.
