Hydraulic oils are fluids used in hydraulic pipe benders, pipe welding installations, etc. To ensure long service life of the machines, it is necessary to choose the hydraulic fluid professionally and follow the manufacturer's instructions when changing it.
Viscosity and temperature
When choosing an oil, it is necessary to take into account the temperature of the medium and its viscosity during operation of the system. The use of oils throughout the year is not recommended, especially for used equipment. During operation, the parts rub and wear out, the gaps between them increase, therefore, a certain oil viscosity is needed to avoid leaks. When using winter oil, keep in mind that its viscosity decreases when heated, and this leads to fluid flow between the plunger and the pump housing, to a drop in pump performance, and a decrease in pressure inside the system. Using summer Mobil Hydraulic Oils in winter will result in poor pumpability and oil starvation. This often happens during the operation of equipment, which includes powerful hydraulic pumps (truck cranes, excavators, etc.).
Dilution of frozen oil with diesel fuel is not allowed in order to reduce its viscosity. This leads to the fact that the seals of the hydraulic cylinders are destroyed and an explosive situation can arise. Although there are special additives in hydraulic oil that dampen the resulting foam, air bubbles still form during hydraulic operation. If the oil contains fuel, then when heated, a mixture forms in the bubbles, which is easily flammable. Under pressure, the seals of the hydraulic cylinders are melted, the repair of the system cannot be avoided.

- Store oil in a closed container.
- When replacing, you must first clean the tank, remove deposits accumulated during operation.
- Hydraulic systems are filled with oil using a pump (not through priming) to reduce the chance of dirt entering the system.
- Use the filter when filling the system.
- Mobil hydraulic oil in contact with air can be stored for a maximum of two years. When re-using unused oil, its characteristics must be analyzed.
- Up to 70% of system breakdowns are caused by dirt or particles entering.
