Plunger pump and its application

Плунжерный насос и его применение

plunger pump is used to mix the components of the substance in the desired ratio. Such pumps can have a different shape and structure, it depends on the fluids that they have to pump. Plunger mechanisms are voluminous and not voluminous. Positive displacement pumps change the volumes of the working surfaces, when the volume increases, the liquid enters the pump, and when it decreases, it is pushed out.

How a plunger pump works

The pumping of liquids is carried out in positive displacement pumps using a complex valve system. By its design, the plunger pump resembles a piston pump. A metal rod acts as a plunger in it, which, by reciprocating movements, changes the pressure in the pump chambers, thereby ensuring its operation. However, they can withstand more pressure than piston pumps.

Plunger pump structure

The volume of the displaced medium is influenced by the length of the plunger stroke. When its length is changed, the feed is adjusted at certain intervals. Certain requirements are imposed on this pump: it must be durable, wear-resistant, sealed, this ensures its high-quality and reliable operation. The manufacturer pays special attention to the accuracy of machining plunger pump parts, so the gap between the inner and outer surfaces in the plunger pairs is only 2-3 microns.

Plunger pumps differ in the number of plungers that are included in the design. The number of plungers in the pump can be up to six. According to the control method, plunger pumps are divided into automatic and manual. In particular, automatic models can be controlled using an electrical system or using a pneumatic drive.

Application of pumps

Plunger pumps are designed for the distillation of various liquids that do not have high viscosity and do not enter into a chemical reaction with metal. Due to the design features, they compare favorably with their counterparts. The cost of a pump depends on the materials from which it was made and the complexity of its design.
