Graphene is the material of the future

Графен - материал будущего

One of the discoveries in the new century, from the point of view of scientists, having quite serious prospects, is the production of graphene ( graphene ). This is a material that has properties that allow, in theory, to bring modern production to a qualitatively new level. Scientists all over the world agree that the near future will be rich in inventions in various fields, based on new material. So why is graphene so attractive in terms of applications?

What is graphene?

It is a one-molecule-thick molecular lattice, ideally composed of six carbon atoms. The discovery of the material in 2004 earned the Nobel Prize. This event is considered one of the most significant in science, since the properties of graphene, which have just begun to be studied, already have promising applications.

A new round of technology development

For modern science, graphene promises very broad opportunities in many areas. The properties that the material possesses are potentially of great importance:

  • Small size - the thickness of the graphene lattice structure is only one molecule, in fact, it is a two-dimensional formation.
  • Electrical conductivity - the crystalline carbon lattice of a material is an excellent conductor.
  • Insulating capabilities - with a slight change in structure, the material can act as a dielectric.

Only these few properties are already potentially of great importance to the semiconductor industry, it is potentially possible to create much larger smaller semiconductor products. This can take the entire industry to a new level, which recently needed, like air, new ways to micro-minimize modern integrated circuits.

In the early 2000s, the electronics industry faced the problem of the impossibility of physically reducing parts and components in electronic components, which significantly stopped further development in this direction. Now, new solutions are being actively developed and research is being conducted in this area, and the possibilities of using the new material are being studied.
