Playtech partners with Canadian bookmaker NorthStar Gaming

Playtech today announced that it has signed a new strategic partnership with Canada-based online casino and sports betting company NorthStar.

Under the terms of the agreement, Playtech will provide its IMS platform for use on all NorthStar Gaming platforms.

Michael Moskowitz, Founding Partner and CEO of NorthStar Gaming, said: "NorthStar Gaming is thrilled to be the exclusive Canadian partner of Playtech, the world's leading slot machines from 1 hryvnia, technology, media and publishing.

"Playtech's industry-leading toolbox will give us an unrivaled market advantage with our own content and localization; we know that's what consumers are looking for."

Despite agreeing terms, both companies are now awaiting regulatory and licensing approvals before implementing their respective gaming software.

This partnership comes just a few weeks after Playtech launched live casinos in two US states. In the future, the company intends to enter other international markets.

Playtech CEO Mor Weiser said: "We are delighted to announce our partnership with NorthStar Gaming as the company prepares to launch its leading online gaming business in Canada.

"Our success is driven by strategic partnerships with leading operators around the world, and we're excited to partner with a leading entertainment company like NorthStar Gaming."

In addition to this latest deal, Playtech is in the process of finalizing a £2.7bn ($3.66bn) deal with Australian slot machine manufacturer Aristocrat Leisure. The company is currently awaiting shareholder approval unless, of course, Eddie Jordan's JKO Play wins the bidding war.
