According to the Ukrainian Association of Metallurgprom Metal Products, in June of this year, the average daily production of cast iron decreased by 13.4% or 10,400 tons compared with the May 67,000 tons per day. At the same time, Ukrainian manufacturers began to reduce smelting due to weak demand and problems with restriction of gas supply and iron ore supply in conditions of acute working capital deficiency.
The decrease in the production of cast iron will continue as before in July, the average daily smelting of cast iron in the first 12 days of the current month amounted to 62,600 tons per day.
As of July 1, 10 out of 36 domain furnaces (28%), 4 out of 21 converter (19%), 19 out of 35 Martenovsky furnaces (54%) and 8 out of 15 electric furnaces (53%) are idle in Ukraine.
