Fabio Riva, Vice President of the ILVA metallurgical plant and the son of his sole owner Emilio Riva, was arrested on January 23, 2013 in London. The order on his arrest was signed in December 2012. This was reported by Bloomberg,
As Reuters correspondents have known today, the largest Italian metallurgical enterprise ILVA will have to send about 8,000 workers on unlimited leave, if the court did not take a ban on the sale of products that were issued as part of an environmental investigation as soon as possible.
According to the data presented by the source, the head of the ILVA plant Bruno Ferrante has already informed the trade unions that fate from 6,000 to 8,000 workers hangs in the balance, and they will most likely be transferred to the maintenance of the warranty of wages if the issue of selling the enterprise is not resolved.
The warranty fund of wages allows the company to make payments to non -working personnel at a reduced rate during the crisis, while their salaries and payments for social insurance are paid by the National Agency for Social Support of Italy (InPS).
Recall that the volumes of steel production in Italy in December 2012 compared with December 2011 decreased by 16.3% and amounted to 1 million 699 thousand tons. For the whole of 2012, Italian metallurgists melted 27 million 227 thousand tons of steel, which is 5.2% less compared to 2011.
