Sales of a steel workpiece on fixed -term transactions on the London metals exchange (LME) reached a new record in August - after 2 types of futures were combined. The volume of trading amounted to 24.853 thousand lots, which is equivalent to 1.6 million tons of material, this is stated in the LME message of September 1, 2010.
August became the first month of trading after the merger of regional steel contracts of LME - Mediterranean and Far Eastern.
Currently, the number of steel brands in LME listing is 45 (out of 15 different countries).
In August, LME announced that she would add similar to Detroit and Chicago, which will earn on November 16, to the Steel Harvesting point in New Orleans. The exchange also plans to register other steel blanks in North America.
