In early September 2010, prices for hot-rolled steel rose by 1-1.15 thousand rupees per 1 ton. The price reached 30.5-31.5 thousand rupees per ton. It is assumed that by 2020 the demand for steel in the country will increase to 200 million tons per year. At the moment in India, about 65 million tons of metal are produced per year.
According to the results of 2009, India entered the top ten leaders of the countries that produce steel. India in this year smelted 56.6 million tons of steel.
