Investment in Chinese real estate decreased by 11.1 percent in January-February 2026

In the period from January to February of this year, the total volume of real estate investment in China amounted to 961.2 billion yuan (139.3 billion US dollars), which is 11.1 percent less than last year, which is 6.1 percentage points slower than the decline recorded for the whole of 2025, as announced by the National Bureau Statistics of China (NBS).

During the specified period, new commercial properties sold in China occupied a total area of 92.93 million m2, which is 13.5 percent less than in the same period last year, which is 4.8 percentage points faster than the decrease recorded in 2025.

In the first two months, the total area covered by construction activity in China decreased by 11.7 percent year-on-year, while the new area covered by construction activity decreased by 23.1 percent year-on-year.
