According to customs statistics published by the Japanese Federation of Ferrous Metallurgy (JISF), in February of this year, exports of iron and steel products from Japan amounted to 2.18 million metric tons, down 4.5 percent month-on-month and 13.2 percent year-on-year.
In the period from January to February of this year, Japanese exports of iron and steel products amounted to 4.46 million tons, which is 10.7 percent less than in the same period of the previous year.
As for the main export markets of ferrous metallurgy products from Japan, in the first two months of this year, exports of iron and steel from the country to Thailand amounted to 650,779 metric tons, which is 3.4 percent, while exports to South Korea decreased by 6.9 percent. 647,921 metric tons. Exports to China totaled 326,479 metric tons, an increase of 11.0 percent, exports to the United States totaled 197,421 metric tons, an increase of 13.4 percent, and exports to Taiwan totaled 168,545 metric tons, a decrease of 46.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
