Re-elected as Chairman at the regular General Assembly of the Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association (IDDMIB), Çetin Tekdelioglu said that in his new term, the association will follow a roadmap aimed at increasing value-added exports, digitalization and sustainability.
Assessing the previous term, Mr. Tekdelioglu said that an intensive work program has been carried out for almost four years, significantly increasing visibility of the Turkish steel sector in international markets.
He noted that the main priority is export growth, adding that they are targeting around a 10 percent increase in exports by 2026 and expect a recovery in the second half of the year, despite challenges posed by global events.
Value-added production and digitalization at the forefront region
Among the strategic priorities of the new term are the expansion of added value production and the acceleration of digital transformation. Mr. Tekdelioglu stated that industry workshops will be organized to develop customized strategies for each sub-sector, and also emphasized the importance of e-commerce and e-export.
He stressed that the digital capabilities of companies will be expanded to strengthen the global positioning of products of Turkish origin, noting that restoring competitiveness is a key challenge.
