China claims 71.61% of new shipbuilding orders worldwide in the first quarter of 2026

In the first three months of this year, new shipbuilding orders totaling 17.58 million CGT were placed on the global market, while China attracted 12.39 million CGT, ranking first in the global market, while South Korea received 3.75 million CGT, ranking second, which is 70 percent and 20 percent of shares in the global market, respectively.

In March this year, China attracted 55.76 percent of new shipbuilding orders (2.51 million CGT, 104 ships) worldwide, ranking first in the global market, while South Korea received 36.73 percent (1.65 million CGT), ranking second.

In March of this year, new shipbuilding orders totaling 4.5 million CGT were placed on the global market, which is 41.44 percent more year-on-year and 31.97 percent less month-on-month.
