The Ukrainian company Kametstal has announced the start of a major overhaul of blast furnace No. 9, aimed at ensuring long-term operational reliability and stable productivity.
The overhaul includes the maintenance and replacement of critical equipment that can only be serviced while the furnace is shut down.
Among the main tasks is the replacement of the small cone of the rotating charge distributor in the furnace loading system, production Metinvest Machinery. Installation and assembly are carried out by Kametstal metallurgical equipment repair specialists.
The scope of the overhaul also includes:
- Replacement of components at the foundry, including equipment for opening and closing cast iron tapholes
- Maintenance of charging systems, hot blast furnaces and dust collection systems installations
- Inspection and repair of electrical and power equipment in all sections of the furnace
Part of a broader maintenance program
According to the company, the overhaul of blast furnace No. 9 is a key element of the iron shop maintenance program for 2026.
Operation is aimed at maintaining stable furnace performance, which is critical to achieving production goals and ensuring efficient operation of the entire facility.
